Are Cosmetic Facial Fillers the Answer for Acne Scaring? Consult Dr. Brian Evans MD

Acne scars and other depressed scars and deficiencies can often greatly benefit from hyaluronic fillers like Restylane and Perlane. Filling depressed scars is an effective treatment that is nonsurgical, minimally invasive, and gives benefits that can easily last six months to a year, and in some cases, longer.

Can fillers improve scars?

You may have an indentation from acne scars, a surgery, a cut from a sports injury, or for a number of other reasons. This deficiency can stand out in your appearance and detract from your facial aesthetics. For some, scars can even be painful reminders of past problems. Fillers like Perlane and Restylane are often the best option for diminishing the visibility of scars on the face by eliminating skin irregularities and restoring the skin to its natural texture and shape. By filling in the deficiencies that are responsible for these indented scars, you may find that your scars are no longer noticeable. Facial fillers are safe and minimally invasive treatments that require little to no recovery time. This, combined with their effectiveness, make them the leading choice for acne scar treatment without the prolonged recover associated with surgery.

Can Laser Resurfacing to treat scars?

Laser treatment at first seemed like a promising technology, but it has never reliably delivered great results, and it is associated with many complications, including permanent disfigurement. Laser resurfacing for acne often yields no results, or - worse - it can make things worse. An erbium laser generally provides only minimal improvement, while something like CO2 laser resurfacing is so aggressive that it can damage your natural pigmentation. Fractional CO2 skin treatment are often big disappointment and very expensive. It is almost always much safer and more effective to choose acne scar fillers than laser treatment.

How to Find a Facial Fillers Expert

Treating facial scars is both a medical procedure and an art that should be performed by a doctor who specializes in treatment with facial fillers. Your doctor, whether a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon, should also possess the great artistic skill needed to precisely place the filler for the best aesthetic results possible. It can be tough to know where to begin when trying to assess your potential treatment provider's ability, experience, expertise, artistic ability, specialization, and so on, but with some careful research you can find someone well-qualified to give you great results. When seeking someone to help you remove acne scars, always find out whether the doctor will personally perform the procedure or instead use an assistant to administer your treatment. Only choose a doctor who will personally treat you; after all, you don't know anything about the assistant's ability, and your results will be much better when the most qualified doctor performs them, rather than a non-physician in training.

An assistant may cost less, but your results will likely not be as good. Carefully study your potential doctor's scar removal before and after photos, noting any changes in camera angles or lighting conditions. If you don't like what you see in the example photos, you probably won't like what you see in the mirror later either. Make sure that your doctor has a lot of experience in filling scars on the face. Choose a doctor who specializes in facial fillers. Every doctor has special areas of talent and experience. Just as you wouldn't go to the same doctor for brain surgery and heart surgery, even if both are leading surgeons, you need to choose a doctor who makes fillers and facial cosmetic treatments a focus of their practice. Finally, evaluate how well you get along with your potential doctor at your initial consultation. You should feel comfortable around your doctor and confident in his or her ability to help you. Sometimes for reasons beyond explanation a doctor and patient don't "click" together, in which case it's okay to move on.

Breast Cancer Reconstruction with Implants by Dr. Brian Evans

Breast cancer reconstruction is an option for many women who have had to have a mastectomy. This procedure allows the surgeon to restore the shape of the breasts. This type of surgery is not necessary but many women feel it is a beneficial thing because it gives them confidence. Having the procedure performed can be safe and it can be life changing. Making the decision to go ahead with it is a big one, though.

The Use of Implants

There are many types of procedures for reconstruction. However, breast cancer reconstruction with implants is one of the most common. In this procedure, your surgeon will add devices filled with a silicone or saline solution into the wall of the chest where your breasts were located.

These products are filled with a gel-like material, which gives you a natural feel and helps to create a comfortable shape for your body. The procedure is quite similar to having implants for enlarging these tissues.

Risks

As with all surgical procedures, breast cancer reconstruction procedures do have some risks. The worst of these risks involve poor healing of the wound, a rupture of the implant, deflation of the implant or protrusion of the implant through the actual tissue. However, these remain very rare. Other risks include infection, excessive bleeding, changes in the sensations in the breasts and an increased risk of needing additional surgical procedures in the future.

What Are the Results?

Having breast cancer reconstruction can help to provide a patient with a more natural body shape. However, there are risks involved in terms of the outcome of the procedure. Many times, your surgeon will work with you ahead of the procedure to create a plan of action.
He or she will discuss size, shape and other implications that could affect the outcome. Generally, though, this procedure can do numerous things to enhance your body.
  • It can help to give your body more contour in this area.
  • It helps you to avoid the need for any external prosthesis to make a masectomy unnoticeable.
  • It can help to improve the symmetry in your breasts so they look more natural under your clothing.
  • It can boost your own body image and give you the confidence you deserve.
  • It can also help to reduce the physical reminders of your fight against this deadly disease.

Breast cancer reconstruction is something to talk to a cosmetic surgeon about before you disregard it. For many women, it can give them back the same feel and sensations they used to have. They can feel better about themselves and about the way clothing fits on their bodies. For many, this is a very empowering experience.

Skin Cancer and Their Surgical Cure - Dr. Brian Evans

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. It affects people of all skin types, races, and ages. About 80% of skin cancer appears on the face, head, or neck.
It is one of the most prevalent ailments around the world. Even though it influences a significant number of people, most of us are still oblivious to what it is, how it is caused and what treatments are available.

CAUSES

The most common form of this disease is caused by protracted exposure to ultraviolet rays of the sun, though there are many other forms as well. It results in the formation of patches or sometimes the accretion of melanin creates a dark blemish that ultimately turns into a scar. All such marks and scars can be removed and the original tint of the complexion can be restored with the help of skin cancer surgery.

KINDS OF SKIN CANCER

The surgical removal of malignant cells is a requisite if skin cancer is detected. This can be easily accomplished with the help of skin surgery. Primarily, there are three forms of skin cancer: Basal cell carcinoma, which is the most frequent type of cancer and can be treated without difficulty. Second, Squamous cell carcinoma is the next most common kind that materializes as a sore or a red patch finally turning into a mole. Lastly, the most hazardous type is the melanoma which initiates as a black or brown lump which seems jagged.

SURGERY

With the dawn of progressive technology of peel cancer surgery, you can solve all your skin problems. When the cancer is in its early stage, a straightforward surgery of malignant cells will suffice. Even with the aid curettage and dehydration, where the electric stream is employed to eliminate cancerous cells, one can fight cancer.

However, if your quandary has augmented and now affects a larger area then you need to elevate to more advanced preventive techniques. The widespread therapy of chemotherapy is then carried out. In this, anti-cancer drugs are applied to obliterate or block the augmentation of cancer. And if the cancer returns, then there is no other option than that of a wide area excision.

Skin surgery is one of the safest options and has minimal side effects. Anyone can gain more information about this by raking the internet and visiting several sites that offer more comprehensive data about skin diseases. If one is still precarious, consulting with one's therapist is the best way to solve your predicaments.

Extricate yourself from these dilemmas and embrace the new technologies to see constructive results.

Fortunately, most skin cancers can be removed by a plastic surgeon. Depending on the size and scope of the cancer, the procedure can even be performed relatively quickly.

Arm Lift Surgery Guidance from Dr. Brian Evans

Cosmetic surgery involves techniques intended for the "enhancement" of appearance through surgical and medical techniques, and is specifically concerned with maintaining normal appearance, restoring it, or enhancing it beyond the average level toward some aesthetic ideal.

An arm lift, or Brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure that reshapes the under portion of the upper arm, from the underarm region to the elbow. The procedure is performed to reduce excess sagging skin that droops downward, Tighten and smooth the underlying supportive tissue that defines the shape of the upper arm, reduce localized pockets of fat in the upper arm region.

Benefits of Arm Lift Surgery: Reduction in upper arm excess, Better self image/confidence, being able to wear short sleeve clothing without being self conscious

Risks of Brachioplasty: Bleeding, Infection, Unattractive scarring, Swelling of the hands, Seroma formation (seromas are fluid collections that can arise after surgery along the incision line)

Side effects: Pain and sensitivity in the incision area, Inability to lift arms past a certain point, Fatigue, Itching of incision sites.

Minimize the Arm Lift Surgery Side Effects: To minimize side effects, follow your surgeon's advice regarding healing time. For the first 24 hours following surgery, it's important to have someone stay with you and act as a caregiver. Be sure to rest, take all medications as prescribed and heed your doctor's warning about when to resume light and heavy activities including lifting and exercise.

All kinds of surgery come with some risks and complications. The same goes with the arm lift surgery. After the surgery, the most noticeable side effect would be the swelling of your incision wounds. You will be required to wear a post operative compression garment to ensure proper healing and to minimize the swelling. Infection can be another complication of arm lift but it can be easily avoided if you follow your doctor's instructions of your prescription medicines.

Importance of Aesthetics: Dr. Brian Evans

Aesthetics are so important because it has such a major impact on the human body. It refers to beauty. Beauty takes on all forms. When one feels good about themselves, then they feel beautiful. It’s not based on looks, but about how one feels. It addresses this issue. Not only the physical body but the psychological effects are significant.

Services are usually and should be administrated by individuals trained and certified in their field. Any time anything has to do with some of type of bodily service, what is done and who it's done by must be qualified. Even though aesthetics deal with the outer body, serious damage can be inflicted by the non professional. Aesthetics is so important because if provides care for the body that is being exposed to the environment.

Aesthetics include treatments by way of facials, rejuvenating massages, pedicures, manicures and the removal of unwanted hair. These services provide the care that is needed to the body, and make one feel good psychologically. Both these issues are important to the overall well being of a person. Aesthetics is not reserved for women only. Men stand to benefit a great deal from many of the treatments it has to offer. Often some of the treatments help prevent potentially serious health problems. For example facials are an excellent way of controlling and treating acne. Pedicures help to identify any surfacing foot problems like ingrown toenails. Waxing often prevents the inflammation and irritation of ingrown hairs. Aside from the therapeutic values there's the sense of feeling relaxed, and rejuvenated. This comes from the inner sense of being pamper regardless of what the treatment or service is.

Get Enhanced Results with Brazilian Butt Lift from Dr Brian Evans MD

You can get enhanced results with Brazilian butt lift via fat transfer by Dr Brian Evans. Fat transfer can make your Brazilian butt lift a lot more visually pleasing. Fat injected from other parts of the body gives the surgeon greater body contouring possibilities. Brazilian butt lift is the foremost buttock augmentation procedure, and is specifically aimed at providing firm and rounded buttocks which result in a curvaceous backside.

Some women have relatively flat derrieres; others experience a change in the overall figure and the presence of sagging skin following a weight loss program or pregnancy. Buttock enhancement procedures such as Brazilian butt lift can give women more self confidence and help them look good in beach costumes or evening dress.

Liposuction and Fat Harvesting

All butt augmentation procedures typically involve removing fat from areas that usually have too much fat such as the hip, flanks or the lower back and grafting these fat deposits into the buttocks. Liposuction is performed on the identified donor area to remove the fat. This process, called fat harvesting, involves creating incisions and using a cannula to remove the fat. The fat is then purified and processed before being injected into the buttocks. Tiny incisions are made on each of the buttocks and the fat deposits are placed in micro amounts with the help of a tinier cannula.

Skill of Plastic Surgeon and Innovative Technology

The amount of fat that is injected depends on how much is needed for the surgeon to sculpt the area according to the patient's expectations.
The ultimate appearance of the buttocks depends on efficient body contouring. The skill and experience of Dr Brian Evans MD an experienced plastic surgeon gurantee success of the procedure.
Modern liposuction and fat transfer procedures are carried out with high tech instruments that ensure precise deposition of fat accurately in the desired region.

More about the Technology behind Butt Augmentation

Modern buttock augmentation procedures employ tools that consist of an imaging platform and an ultrasound probe which enable the surgeon to accurately monitor every aspect of the procedure. This ensures more efficient body sculpting capabilities and of course, greater safety which leads to faster recovery for the patient and less scarring. A compression garment would have to be worn by the patient for a few weeks while regular activities can be resumed in a week, except for heavy physical activity. A reliable plastic surgery facility will offer comprehensive post-surgery care.

The main advantage of Brazilian butt lift through fat transfer and fat harvesting is that there are no implants involved which could potentially cause a reaction in the body. Get enhanced results with Brazilian butt lift via fat transfer.

The experience of Dr. Brian Evans Plastic Surgery West Hills Hosptial & Medical Center that the vast majority of patients will have successful results with fat survival. One thing is for sure, sculpting the buttocks by removing fat from the proper areas around and adding volume to the buttocks will certainly improve the contour, shape and curves no matter how much fat actually survives. Stop Putting Up With Deep Wrinkles - Dr. Brian Evans

For some people, the fact that they have wrinkle lines on their face or around their eyes does not present much of a problem to them. Wrinkles may be affectionately referred to as being "laughter lines", "care lines" and "crow's feet" - wrinkles are a part of growing older which most will have to face up to sooner or later in time. For the very elderly, it almost seems to be a part of their character that they will have wrinkles - many a young child is fascinated that grandma not only has wrinkles but that she can also take out her teeth.

A combination of genetic disposition, lifestyle and habits will contribute to whether or not wrinkles may start forming at an early age. It is definitely true that wrinkles are regarded as a sign of aging, and that we live in a society which does prioritize youth and glamour as being desirable. It is however not vanity or a desire to cling to lost youth which makes it attractive to people to try and minimize the appearance of wrinkles - in fact you could say that in principle, ironing out your wrinkles is no different to ironing your clothes. Everyone wants to look fresh and clean and to make a good impression - attending to your appearance is only one of many social things that we do.

Particularly, for important social occasions, people like to look their best and getting something done about wrinkles is often on the list of things to do in preparation for a wedding, engagement party, birthday party, family gathering and all manner of social events. Many people do not want to have cosmetic surgery they simply want to camouflage their wrinkles for the day so they can look their best.

Cosmetics which improve the appearance of wrinkles include many proprietary brands of face and eye cream, and creams for the hands and the feet. Face creams can be those worn lightly during the day, providing protection from ultra violet sun rays, against dehydration of the skin, and providing a barrier against grime and pollutants, or richer, nourishing face creams to be left on overnight. Almond, macadamia and many different oils are contained in face creams that reduce the appearance of wrinkles by softening the skin. Various facial scrubs which contain oil and herbal essences can also be used to make sure that the face is completely clean also help to reduce tension in muscles and relax the skin.

Cremes intended to reduce the appearance of wrinkles often contain elastin and collagen, both of which are products which occur naturally in the skin - with elastin contributing to the flexibility of your skin, and collagen providing its texture and shape. If you use face creams with elastin and collagen in them, over a period of a few weeks you can expect to see an improvement in the generally quality of your skin.

Wrinkle creams also often contain Retinol, which will relax the skin and discourage the appearance of wrinkles. Light wrinkle creams are used around the eyes, because the skin surrounding the eyes is very delicate and needs to be treated with care. Often to enhance the features of the eyes, wrinkle creams will contain light reflecting pigments which tend to reduce the shadows that can appear under the eyes, and create a brighter appearance wherever this light reflecting cream is used.

Safety Tips by Dr. Brian Evans MD in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery

The things that you should consider when planning any cosmetic surgery procedure are results, quality and safety. The following article is prepared, in order to educate and guide prospective clients in cosmetic surgery on how to choose the right surgeon to attain their goal.

1. Any surgery with the main purpose of improving the physical aspect of the human body aesthetically, as well as function, is an artistic challenge for us plastic surgeons, and should be a worthwhile experience for the patient. All cosmetic procedures, minor or major, should be done according to certain standards imposed and set by local authorities, in terms of safety. Once your goal is obtained after the procedure, this brings emotional fulfillment and satisfaction to both the surgeon and the person seeking the procedure. But patient's safety and health should be the main priority of your surgeon.

2. Inquire about your surgeon's academic profile and formal training in the field of cosmetic/aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. It takes 6 to 8 years of formal training in burns, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery at an accredited institution after medical school before a physician could call himself a Plastic Surgeon. This would include 3 to 5 years of General Surgery Program and 3 years of Burns, Cosmetic/Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery training. Nowadays, there are still a lot of doctors (even non doctors), though board certified, but definitely not in plastic surgery, who perform plastic procedures. With the complexity of the plastic surgery specialty, it is not enough for a physician to just undergo months or even a year of observership or training in an unaccredited establishment, in order for them to comprehend all the principles and applications in the field of plastic cosmetic surgery.

3. A surgeon, equipped with a firm foundation in Cosmetic/Aesthetic Plastic Surgery should be able to evaluate whether you are a good candidate for the surgery you are considering. He must be able to discuss with you, all possible options and its associated risks and advice you which procedure is best to attain your desired results. If there are less invasive or non-surgical procedures that could fulfill your needs, your surgeon should be knowledgeable about this and be able to tell you it’s advantages and disadvantages. Please be aware that there is no such thing as standard cosmetic procedure that would fulfill the desired result of all patients. Each patient should be approach and treated individually, since we have our own personal definition of beauty.

4. Do not look for the cheapest doctor; more so, do not be deceived by unrealistic offer. Know your surgeon's training and academic profile. Take note of his offer, if it is safe and attainable. You could inquire from any physicians' association, regarding the authenticity of your surgeon's specialty or training; lastly, ask friends and previous patients regarding his credentials. Try visiting their website, if he has one. Your surgeon must be able to provide you details of his training, specialization and the number of years he underwent training.

5. Your surgeon must be able to extensively discuss with you all your possible options. Don't hesitate to ask questions, a good plastic surgeon must be able to entertain all your inquiries regarding your desired procedure. Through this, the surgeon can establish rapport with their patients and establish a comfortable environment.

6. Don't allow yourself to undergo liquid silicon injection at your nose, breasts, or any part of your body. The use of silicon oil injection has long been abandoned and condemned because of its unpredictable result and complications, not to mention its untoward results such as extrusion and infection. Your doctor must be able to provide you data or clinical study regarding the use and safety of the product he is trying to promote.

7. Don't be attracted to newer procedures, drugs and prosthetics without proven long term studies with regards to result, efficacy and safety. Inquire about its approval for use by local and foreign regulatory agency such as US-FDA, Department of Health, etc. Take into consideration the quality, safety and efficacy rather than the cost.

8. Take note if your surgeon's clinic or cosmetic center were able to meet certain standard of safety and certified by the local Health Department. But be informed, that there are certain procedures that are best done in a hospital setting.

9. Ask your surgeon regarding affiliations or membership to any local Plastic Surgery organization that is recognized by both local and international body of Plastic Surgeons.

Do I Need A Breast Lift Or Just An Augmentation? Ask Dr. Brian Evans

If you want to get some enhancement done on your breasts, it is fortunate today that there are a number of options available for you. And the best part is that these procedures can cater to your specific needs. But how do you know when you are going to need a lift or a breast augmentation surgery?

Dr Brian Evans often faced with that question from patients that feel their breasts are saggy. Sometimes the answer is obvious, but some other times it’s not that clear cut. Most of the time patients that would benefit from a breast lift already know the answer and they come in requesting that procedure. But there is a selected group that doesn’t want to do a lift but are afraid they are going to need it.  Let’s digress here for a moment; nobody really needs a lift, like nobody needs a diamond. You get it because you want it, it’s not essential for life but it makes you happy to have it. Similarly, getting a cosmetic surgical procedure may improve your quality of life, as you are no longer self-conscious about a certain part of your anatomy.

Having said that, the purpose of a lift is to improve the shape and form of a breast that has otherwise experienced profound changes due to pregnancy, breast feeding, loss or gain of significant weight or sometimes they simply developed with an unattractive shape. Most people can tell a pretty breast when they see it and that is because an attractive breast has defined proportions. They are nice and round, they are not too long, and they have nipples and areolas that are located centrally and facing forward.  The skin is firm and so is the glandular tissue and even though these last two items cannot be changed we can surely change the proportions of the breast with a lift. Most lifts can be done simultaneously with an augmentation to make the breasts larger but in extreme cases it’s better to do them separately or in stages.

So, how do I know when the breast will need a lift?  The answer is in the proportions. Dr Brian Evans MD measures the distance from the collarbone to the nipple and if this is greater than 24 cm then most likely it will need to be lifted. Another clue is orientation of the nipples; if they are pointing straight down then they need to be lifted regardless of the measurement. The size of the areolas (the dark skin that surrounds the nipple) is also important, as they get larger when the skin is saggy or stretchy.  Reducing their size along with centralizing their position is an essential part of restoring ideal proportions of an attractive breast. This is commonly referred by the vernacular as to going from “bologna to pepperoni”. The ideal size of an areola is about 4 to 6 cm in diameter but certain allowances can be given based on personal preference.

So far we’ve learned that a breast lift, also called a “mastopexy”, is performed to restore attractive proportions when the original breast has developed unfavorable ones. More often than not a mastopexy is performed in conjunction with an implant augmentation to improve the volume of the breast as well as enhancing the roundness and fullness of it. When an augmentation is performed alone in a breast with unfavorable proportions the results can be disastrous. There will be a mismatch between the breast and the implant that will appear worse than the original problem. Some practitioners will try to get around that problem using larger implants in order to expand and fill the saggy stretchy breast. Most often that will lead to unreasonable breast sizes that invariably make the patient uncomfortable and eventually the breast will sag even more in the short term. Fortunately, this situation can be corrected by providing the lift in conjunction with a reduction in the size of the implants. Dr Brian Evans MD has helped many patients in this situation who also happen to have old saline implants placed over the muscle. The conversion to silicone implants under the muscle along with a mastopexy has proven to be a very useful procedure in my practice restoring breast harmony in many grateful patients.

The reason many patients are reluctant to consider a lift is because in order to modify the unfavorable features of a breast you need to create skin incisions and therefore scars that are permanent. Luckily, new techniques available for this minimize the amount of scars. Also, the craftsmanship of a skillful plastic surgeon will help produce high quality scars that are located in a private area that very few people would have a chance to see.

If you still need to decide between a lift and an augmentation, please schedule a consultation with Dr. Brian Evans Plastic Surgery Clinic a board certified plastic surgeon with a good reputation and ask around for references.

Can Cosmetic Surgery Really Improve Your Life? Ask Dr. Brian Evans MD

Are you worried or constantly disquieted with an imperfection that your body might have? If you simply lost a lot of weight, extra skin could be making you to feel ashamed and embarrassed. Wrinkles, due the early signs of maturing, and unwanted body hair are just some of the many imperfections that people, just like you, would like to treat. The good news is that you probably have a number of different alternatives, including cosmetic surgery.

As nice as it is to hear that cosmetic surgery is an alternative that you are able to opt for, you could be uncertain if it is the correct conclusion. With the costs and the risks, many people question if the impact that cosmetic surgery will have on their life is really worthwhile. To make a decision, you had better first review some of the numerous ways that cosmetic surgery may better your life. You can discuss all your issues with Dr. Brian Evans MD.

For starters, it is important to analyse your self-assurance and self-regard. If you have an imperfection on your body that's well visible to other people, like unwanted body hair that simply will not stay off, your self-assurance could be poor. Apart from that unwanted hair, you could feel beautiful and attractive. Once the problem is seen to, you are likely to find an improvement in your self-worth, self-confidence, and self-esteem. For many people, this is more than worth the costs of cosmetic surgery.

Along with an advance in self-confidence and an improvement in self-esteem comes the power to socialize better. Those with noticeable body or skin imperfections, even tiny, often conceal themselves from other people out of fear of being embarrassed or badly judged. The good news is that if you use cosmetic surgery to seek treatment, you do not have to hide out or live in fear of embarrassment anymore. If you're presently single, you could enjoy passing more time with your friends or even approaching other people for dates!

Even if you're not single, but attached, there's still a good deal that cosmetic surgery can do for you. There comes a point in almost every marriage where husbands and wives reach a comfort zone. Among the first things to go is appearance. Cosmetic surgery can help to make your partner fall in love with you all over again, like it was when you first met. Also, the gain in self-worth and self-confidence, which was touched on above, may do wonders for your marriage.

Cosmetic surgery, depending on what type of operation you are looking to go through, could also give you an advantage in the working world. Generally, your performance improves if you feel good about yourself! While we ought to be judged on our qualifications in the workplace, you might be surprised to learn just how big of an impact appearance does have.

As you can see, there are a number of different ways that undergoing cosmetic surgery can help to improve your life. If you're ready to get going, contact one of your local cosmetic surgeons or surgery centers today to schedule a consultation appointment. During this appointment, your physician can work with you to determine if you are an ideal candidate for cosmetic surgery; as well discuss your procedural options.

In more than 20 years of private practice as a board certified plastic surgeon, Brian Evans MD has encountered lots of patients with a wide variety of problems after breast augmentation surgery.

Rupture of the implants is a main issue. Fortunately, this is fairly rare but it does happen. Older implants were more prone to rupture than today's implants. If your implants are more than 12-15 years old you should have them checked. Rupture is not always that easy to detect. For a definitive diagnosis, an MRI is required. A rupture should be taken care of immediately, but they are not terribly dangerous as was once feared.

The concerns raised in the '90's about ruptures leading to increased auto immune diseases have been proven false in the research. Fears of ruptures and auto immune disease linger, but Dr. Brian Evans MD assures you those particular fears can be put to rest due to extensive, positive research results.

Some problems boil down to disappoint with the aesthetic results of breast augmentation surgery. Women may feel they were not placed correctly, are the wrong size or are asymetrical.

What often happens to cause these problems?

The best way to perform the surgery is to place the implant behind the muscles and the breast tissue, not just the breast tissue. Unfortunately, some surgeons do not do it the right way; they do it the easy way.

If you have not yet had surgery, avoid these problems by requesting a retro-muscular placement, not a retro-glandular implant.

Shift in the body over time is more likely if the implants are not under the muscle too. so if a woman experiences significant weight loss or gain, or pregnancies after implantation, the stretching of the skin causes capsular contraction.

Capsular contraction is a condition characterized by scar tightening around the implants that makes them hard to the touch or cause an uneven shape, or both. The result is an augmentation that is obvious or simply not natural.

Other problems worth mentioning here are:
  • Poorly selected implants in terms of shape and form
  • Over-inflated implants
  • Implants that slip under the breast
  • Ugly scars
  • Breast asymmetry
  • Implants that are placed too high;
  • Developing the "double bubble" effect (this occurs when the muscle still attached to the underside of the breast produces a visible crease across the bottom half of the breast);
  • Implants migrate laterally over time into the armpit, thereby losing the projection in front and desired cleavage.

When these problems show up over time, it can often be traced back to mistakes made during the original surgery. Another reason why choosing a quality plastic surgeon is critical

Is Cosmetic Surgery Covered By Insurance? Ask Dr. Brian Evans

Is cosmetic surgery covered by insurance? This is a question that many people have and ask Dr. Brian Evans, when planning to undergo a cosmetic surgery procedure. It is a fact that plastic surgery is expensive. The cost is a big factor that influences your decision whether to undergo cosmetic surgery or not.

Financing Options for Cosmetic Surgery

Before committing to any procedure, most plastic surgeons will ask you to pay a deposit. Plus, there are additional fees that you have to incur in the facility. The good news is that your insurance may help cover part of your procedure cost. There are many financing companies that offer easy and convenient loans to pay for medical expenses associated with plastic surgery. Insurance providers assist patients seeking cosmetic surgery with financing for their desired procedure. With the help of these financing companies, you can pay for your surgery costs in easy installments over time.

There are certain procedures that the insurance companies refuse to cover. As far as eligibility for insurance is concerned, plastic surgery is categorized into two: cosmetic and reconstructive. Certain cosmetic surgery procedures are undergone for reasons other than aesthetic ones. Cosmetic procedures that are performed to improve function rather than aesthetic aspects are eligible for an insurance cover. For e.g. when a person chooses to have blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery for cosmetic enhancement, then the procedure will not get insurance coverage. At the same time, the same procedure performed to correct drooping eyelids that are causing vision problems is eligible for insurance coverage. Breast augmentation, when performed to meet aesthetic goals is not covered by insurance.

Cosmetic Surgery and Insurance

Some of the cosmetic surgery procedures covered by insurance:
Abdominoplasty: If performed for an obese person to improve or eliminate health problems.
Breast surgery: It is eligible to get financial coverage for breast surgery procedures, if performed to reduce large breasts that cause back pain, shoulder pain, and related conditions.
Ear surgery: If performed to correct ears deformed by disease or injury, or those deformed at birth.
Blepharoplasty or Eyelid surgery: Is covered, if performed to correct drooping eyelids, which cause vision problems.
Nasal surgery: If performed to correct nasal deformities and nasal birth defects.

Find out whether the cosmetic surgery procedures you have opted for are eligible for insurance coverage. It is important to have a talk with both your surgeon and your insurance provider. They can explain to you whether your desired procedure is covered by insurance or not. Coverage for specific procedures and coverage levels might vary. You can receive full or partial coverage for your plan. Choose a reliable insurance company to consolidate and manage your healthcare expenses and make your body contouring dreams a reality.

Get Rid of Excess Skin with a Body Lift from Dr Brian Evans after Massive Weight Loss

You've lost all the weight, you're on a strict diet-You're even JOGGING! But, there's just one problem actually many problems:
  • Excess skin you hadn't expected left after weight loss.
  • Stubborn pockets of fat that diet and exercise won't budge.
  • An overall feeling of "what's the point"? After you've lost so much weight but there's that little bit left that won't go away.

Don't give up yet! Before you fall off the wagon, decide you are fated to be fat, and start shoving double cheeseburgers into your mouth. There's one more option-Plastic surgery. Plastic surgery after massive weight loss is a great way to shape up those little pockets of flab that won't say goodbye. The "body lift" is the most recommended plastic surgery.

How the Body Lift Gets the Job Done

The body lift is a combination plastic surgery that removes fat and tissue from different parts of the body. The tummy tuck attacks the belly fat, the arm lift fights the "bingo wings", liposuction sucks out fat, the butt lift battles the butt fat, the thigh lift well, you get the point.
Unlike these plastic surgery techniques, the body lift works on the whole body for total body contouring. It uses smaller versions of these procedures to pinch a little here, tuck a little there, and give you the finished product-A perfect body! Think of the body lift as the happy ending to your massive weight loss saga.

Finding the Right Surgeon

Body lift is becoming a more and more popular surgery, and as it does so, there are more doctors everywhere with the experience necessary to perform it. The first step is to research plastic surgeons in your area. You should look for a doctor who has some experience with the body lift. Because it uses lots of different techniques, experience is key. If you don't find anyone who does body lifts in your area, you should consider traveling to another area. Visit Brian Evans MD if you are looking in West Hills, CA.

After finding an experienced body lift surgeon, you should schedule a consultation. This is the most important step! At the consultation, your doctor will explain the procedure. They will explain what you can expect from your surgery. They'll also ask you about your medical history, and make an overall assessment of your flab problems.
The consultation is also your chance to get information about the surgery. Ask lots of questions, have a good look at before and after photos, and ask the doctor about their experience. If there is anything that puts you off about the clinic or the doctor, go somewhere else. It is far too important to leave in the hands of someone you don't totally trust.

You can expect some recovery time. Because the body lift uses so many small operations, the recovery can be serious. Make sure you follow doctor's instructions and most of all, take it easy for a while. Don't exert any part of your body. You'll just have to take a vacation on the couch and make somebody else do everything too bad!
Don't feel gypped after your massive weight loss. Get rid of the flab that keeps hanging around with a body lift. Plastic surgery after massive weight loss can get you the way you want to be-slim and happy!

At Dr. Brian Evans Plastic Surgery West Hills Hosptial & Medical center, everybody lift procedure is customized for the needs of our patients. Eyelid Surgery from Dr. Brian Evans Can Make You Look Brighter and Younger

Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty creates an open, larger, brighter appearing eye. By removing excess loose skin and fatty tissue which produce bags of the upper or lower lid, the eye appears larger, less tired, more open and brighter.
In women, excess loose tissue prevents optimal use of makeup and obscures the normal contours of the eyelid. In both women and men, loose, sagging, bulging tissues make the eye appear smaller and more tired or stressed.
The goal of eyelid surgery is to produce a significant improvement in eyelid appearance with the utmost safety.
If you have any type of eye disease or symptoms, these must be carefully investigated and considered in planning your blepharoplasty surgery, visit Brian Evans Plastic Surgery for more details. After examining you, Dr. Brian Evans may request a consultation from an ophthalmologist if he feels that your safety would benefit.

Limitations

There are limits to the amount of tissue which can or should be removed from the eyelid. Excessive removal of fat can produce a hollow, unnatural appearance. Excessive removal of skin can cause deformities or prevent proper eye closure. The key to the best result is precise planning of the procedure based on careful measurements of your eyelids.
Eyelid surgery cannot remove every wrinkle from the eyelid area. Differences which exist in the eyelids on both sides may be improved after surgery, but slight differences will always be present.

Risks

Risks of injury to the eye, infection or bleeding which could impair vision are extremely small, but do exist and must be considered.
Other risks common to all surgical procedures such as bleeding, infection and scar tissue formation occur in a very small percentage of cases. We will give you more detailed information about these and other rare risks in our written information, and encourage you to discuss any which concern you during your consultation.
If deformities exist in areas of the face besides the eyelids, additional procedures may be necessary in those areas for optimal facial appearance.

About The Operation

It is critically important that decisions regarding amounts of removal be made with you upright immediately prior to surgery, since the degree of deformities changes drastically when you lie down. For the most accurate correction, your eyelids must be measured and marked with you sitting before going to the operating room.
By using very fine electrosurgical instruments for many aspects of the procedure, risks of bleeding and the amount of bruising following the procedure are greatly reduced, speeding your recovery.

Incisions for eyelid surgery are placed deep in the fold of the upper eyelid and immediately beneath the lashes in the lower eyelid to make them inconspicuous. If only fat removal is necessary in the lower eyelid, the incision can sometimes be located on the inside of the lid.

During the procedure, excess skin is removed from the upper and lower eyelids to improve lid contours. If excess fatty tissue is producing bulges or bags, only the excess is carefully removed to produce a natural lid appearance.
After carefully rechecking the lid, the incisions are closed with tiny sutures or stitches.

Recovery

You will have virtually no pain whatever following your eyelid surgery. You'll have some swelling for the first two or three days after surgery, but it decreases rapidly by the third day.
When your sutures are removed on the fourth or fifth day after surgery, you can immediately apply makeup to the lids to hide any residual traces of bruising. You can usually return to your normal activities in a week or less.

The Stages of Recovery

Patients usually want to know about four stages of recovery: hospitalization time, when swelling or bruising is resolved, when they'll be able to return to work or social activity, and when they can return to full aerobic or strenuous exercise.
For eyelid procedures, the average procedure is usually performed as an outpatient procedure. Bruising and swelling resole in 5-10 days or less. Patients can return to work and social activities within 14-21 days.

Most surgeons encourage immediate return to full normal activity immediately. Just don't do any type of strenuous exercise that would push your pulse over 100 for about two to three weeks. Any aerobic activity that increases your pulse over 100 also increases your blood pressure, and could make you bleed.
